Can spreading of the bird flu be stopped?

It is feared that the H5N1 virus found in Turkey will soon spread all over Europe.
As the main transmitters of the disease are birds, it is practically impossible to stop the virus from spreading. But this does not mean that the infection will definitely affect domestic birds.
Experts believe that the disaster can be avoided if appropriate precautions are taken and wild birds are prevented from entering poultry farms.
Moreover, regular monitoring of migrant birds will make it possible to create a system of early warning about infected flocks appearing at various locations.
